Following a sell-out AV Awards 2018 - our 21st birthday will mark the start of a new era, the AV Awards are evolving. We are excited to unveil our stunning new venue – Battersea Evolution, a unique space we have chosen to be the future of the AV Awards.

When the AV Awards launched in 1999, there was no other publication or industry organisation in Europe recognising the excellence and innovation of the AV, events and production industry.


Since then the AV Awards has helped define and raise industry standards and become the most talked about event in the AV calendar across the globe.


In 2018, the AV Award’s celebrated its 20th anniversary. To celebrate, the AV Awards got a new look, we put on a high-tech production to give the best experience to our industry and innovative technologies and creations helped bring it to life by our sponsors. We also received a record-breaking number of entries and sell out event enjoyed by almost 1,400 key industry professionals. 


The AV Awards are open to all organisations working in the global AV industry. There’s a category for every part of the supply chain. This includes manufacturers, distributors, integrators, installers, resellers, specialist AV companies, freelancers, creative/digital agencies, production, rental and staging companies, consultants, end-users.

Companies or individuals may submit entries on their own behalf, or on behalf of other individuals or organisations, including colleagues, industry peers, suppliers or clients. If submitting on someone else’s behalf, please ensure you have their permission to do so. 

Absolutely! We do advise running all content through various parts of your customers business for approval and we highly recommend you avoid marketing jargon.


We’ve outlined who should enter which category on the website. Closely review these and determine which is most appropriate. You can enter more than one relevant category to increase your chances of being shortlisted.

Early entry deadline is the 26th April. Enter before then means you will save 35% off the entry fee. The final deadline is the 21st June 2019.

The awards entry deadline is not plucked out of thin air. It’s an important element of a large and complex process. Getting your entries in on time means the judges are given the maximum amount of time to consider your entry.

In our experience a good award entry can take 4-6 weeks to put together. This allows enough time for initial fact-finding meetings, several versions of the entry form and presumes you may need a number of people to look at it and sign it off. Really, the more time you have the better.

Yes, however be mindful that each categories has a different set of criteria so do not copy and paste.

The eligibility period for submissions should relate to the period from  February 2018 to 31 May 2019. Please make sure that your entry only contains evidence of activity that took place during this period.

Entries submitted for the 2018 AV Awards cannot be entered for the 2019 Awards unless you can demonstrate that substantial developments or improvements have taken place.

No. What the judges want to see should be uppermost in your mind when preparing your entry as they make the decision to proceed with your entry or not. Follow the instructions and recommended format - it’s there for a reason. If you don’t, you may find you’ve been ruled out for non-compliance.

Yes. A video is a great way for the judges to put context to the entry. If you cannot provide video, ensure you have strong photographs, customer testimonials and any over evidence needed.

Video service

In 2019 we’re offering entrants to the technology category a low-price professional video service. If you’re exhibiting your technology at a major UK exhibition at which we have a presence before 1 June 2019, we can come to your stand and create a short video to accompany your submission.

Yes. Your entry will not be shortlisted without any quantifiable information that can demonstrate your entry is based on fact. Where we ask for testimonials, you should obtain these from clients, partners, and industry figures, rather than employees of your organisation.

If there is a ‘most important’ tip, then this is it.

Read the criteria for the particular category you are entering and answer the questions – as you would do in an exam. Then make sure you give direct, easy to find answers against *ALL* of the criteria.

No hard copies will not be accepted. All entries must be submitted via the online entry form at Entries submitted by any other means or in any other format will be disqualified.

The entry fees are as follows:

  • £160 plus VAT per entry
  • Entry cost plus video is £350 + VAT

Upon submitting your entry you will be given the option to pay via PayPal or invoice. Please note that if you have opted to pay by invoice but have not paid by 11 October your entry will be removed.

If you submitted an entry into any of the following categories, and make it through to the shortlist, you will be invited to attend a Judging Day:

  • Manufacturer of the Year
  • Distributor of the Year
  • International Integrator of the Year
  • National Integrator of the Year
  • Consultancy of the Year

This will be held at an independent, central London venue in the presence of all of the judges. You will be given a 30-minute time slot. This will include 15 minutes to present your entry and 10 minutes to answer questions from the judges. If you are invited to attend a Judging Day you will be consulted in advance. regarding a suitable date and arrangements will be confirmed to you by the AV Awards team.

Please note that we expect Judging Days to be attended by senior representatives of the company or companies involved in the award. We recommend no more than 2 attendees.

Judging Process

Each award has a specially curated judging panel, featuring a cross section of AV technology end-users and industry specialists, relevant to the award category. We go to great lengths to ensure each panel has both expertise and diversity, so that every entry can be assessed accurately and from a mix of viewpoints.

Step 1 – Initial scoring:

The judges for each award review and independently score every entry in their allocated category, paying close attention to the criteria laid out on the entry form. The highest scoring entries from Step 1 will be put through to Judging Day.

Step 2 – Scoring review and shortlist selection:

The judges come together on Judging Day to discuss each entry in depth. After which, they again independently score each entry. The highest scoring entries are then shortlisted.

The information in your entry will remain confidential between the AV Awards team. All of our judges are bound by Non-Disclosure Agreements.

The Shortlist

The shortlist will be announced early August via email, online and social. Make sure you’re the first to know and subscribe here.

Yes. You will be notified if your entry is unsuccessful.

Yes. Please allow four weeks after the shortlist has been announced to query your unsuccessful application.

The Awards

You will receive a physical ticket two weeks prior to the event. 

If you do not receive a physical ticket, you will still need to print out the digital version in order to enter the awards. 

If you have not received your physical ticket 3 days prior to the awards, please email Kimryn Sherwood as soon as possible.

The winners will be announced during the AV Awards ceremony on 11 October 2019 at Battersea Evolution.

Battersea Evolution is sat in the middle of a highly secure park. The park shuts to the public at 20:00. On leaving the awards ceremony there will be a queue of Black Taxi’s available. We recommend using the Black cabs rather than private hire or Uber as these vehicles cannot pull up outside the venue and have another parking area a five minute walk.
